Temple records indicate that William and Martha were marrie d 15 Nov 1869 in the Endowment House. In the history of William and Martha written by their daugh ter Vilate, their son Ray Crawford was born while Martha was in exile to Ariz ona because of the poligamy problem. Temple records show some confussion as to when Sarah Veac h and William were sealed to each other in the Endowment house. Temple r ecords give THREE different dates for this sealing: 23 Feb 1853, 27 Fe b 1853 and 14 Mar. 1860. By this last date, T & ET are in parenthases. I f this last date is correct, the FIRST FOUR CHILDREN BORN TO THIS COUPL E NEED TO BE SEALED TO THE PARENTS. The following was found on Film # 0884112 in the Family History Library. Taken from the Second Ward, Liberty Stake. Elggren, Vilate E., female. Father, Wm. Crawford Lewis, mother, Martha A. Knigsbury. Born December 4, 1875, Richmond, Cache County, Utah. Blessed February 2 1876, by Charles Allen. Baptized May 1, 1884, by C. H. Monson. Confirmed May 1, 1884, by W. K. Burnham. Temple marriage June 6, 1901. Husband, Albert John Elggren. Death February 16, 1960, Salt Lake City, Utah. Cause: Heart ailment - Pneumonia. BIRTH: From Grandma's history: She was born on December 4, 1875, at Richmond, Cache County, Utah.. She was the thrid child, also the third daughter of her parents, Willaim Crawford Lewis and Martha Ann Kingsbury. The oldest child of this union was Addie who was four years and four days older that Vilate. The second child, Loenza, died when she was eight months old. The mid-wife who attended Vilate' s birth was an old lady by the name of Sister Whitehead. Also it is felt that Grandma Pond was also in attendance. BAPTISM: Vilate was baptized on May 1, 1884 by C. H. Monson and confirmed the same day by W. K. Burnham. She was baptized in a stream of water that was about two or three miles north of her home. Her playmate and companion, Annie Orison, was baptized at the same time. A hole deep enough was located and the two girls were dressed to be baptized when they left home. Vilate went into the water first because Annie thought if Vilate could do it she could also. They were then wrapped up in quilts and taken home in our wet clothes. They were then taken to the fast meeting to be confirmed. Fast day was then held on the first Thursday of each month.
He married Martha Ann Kingsbury 15 Nov 1869 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah . Martha Ann Kingsbury was born at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah 17 Oct 1850 daughter of Joseph Corrodon Kingsbury and Louisa Lorenza Alcina Pond .
