James C. ANDERSON

                   U.S. Army, Cpl- Killed near Heilbronn, Germany in a coordinated atta ck
by his company.  They were bombarded by heavy artilary and mortars wh en
advancingon the enemy near Heilbronn, Germany on April 13, 1945.  It w
as during thisattack that Donald received large shrapnel wounds to his
ch est and back.He was immediately evacuated to the nearest hospital
whe re he received extensive medical care.  Regretfully, Donald died the
follo wing day, April 14, 1945, of his wounds.
Donald was awarded a purple heart for his bravery that waspresented to h
is wife June by Major General Burress of the U.S. Army.
Donald was laid to rest at the Lorraine American Cemetery in St. Avold,
Fr ance with over 10,400 of his fallen comrades.
