Abner WAITE of Peru attended the funeral of David CLEMANS Sunday. Mr. Wai
te and Mr. Clemans were both in the same regiment in the Civil war.
David Clemans was brought home fromDukes Hospital Thursday, having be en
in too precarious condition to have anoperation. He passed away Frid ay
at his home, northwest of town. He was past 72 Years of age, and w as a
veteran of the Civil war, and was a prisoner inLibbey prison once du
ring the war.
He leaves a wife, two sons, Newton [CLEMANS] and Solomon [CLEMANS], four
d aughters, Mrs. Sarah FENIMORE, Mrs. Delilah FOUTS, Mrs. Ethel SMITH,
and M rs. Gladys COFFING. The funeral was held inthe Christian church
Sunday af ternoon and preached by Rev. C. E. SCIFRES. Burial was in
Plainview cemete ry west of town.

Mrs. Maria CLEMANS, 73,died Monday evening at the home of her son, Solom
on Clemans,
of near Macy,a victim of gall stones from which she had suffered for
seve ral Years.
