August 15,1845, daughter of Pline Platt and Mary Salina Bond Pope, Residence, South Dakota, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. RushMurray Loomis served in the Civil War. 1861-1865, Company M, 1st Calvary, Wisconsin, and was in active service all the time."

Like many of her predecessors she schooled in Lind, Wisconsin and qualified to teach. Alice (8) Pope married Rush Murray Loomis (bornDecember 22, 1847 in Northeast, Pennsylvania) on June 22, 1867 in Weyauwega,Wisconsin. From this marriage there were three children. 1.) Arthur (9 Pope) Loomis born November 24, 1867 2.) Wilson Murray (9 Pope) Loomis born November 14, 1869, died August 18, 1872 3.) Frances Belle (9 Pope) Loomis born March 2, 1872, died August 13, 1876 After marrying Rush Murray Loomis they resided on the old Pope homestead. There she gave birth of Arthur Pope Loomis giving him the distinction of being born in the log cabin on the Chapman corner. Rush and Alice continued to live on the farm even after the older Pope's wentto live with their son Nathaniel (6) . From 1880 and 1881 the lived one milesouth of Post Corners school in Dayton (Waupaca County), Wisconsin and thensold the farm to a cousin rush Loomis Pope and Claribel Nordeen Pope. For atime Rush and Alice lived on the N. L. White farm (what was the Lind post office). Alice taught school at Lind Center and her son Arthur was one of her students. In later years the family moved to Iroquois, South Dakota

Arthur attended school at Lind Center, where his mother taught. Then went to live with his Aunt Sarah Ann Gardner. Also living on winder with his Uncle Alvin, while his mother taught school near John Huntoon's farm. At thattime Alvin Pope lived across the road from the Cal Parker farm, in the housewhich later became the home of Pline Pope and is now in 1938 part of the Soren Jenson farm. Arthur Pope was married two times. First Marriage: Arthur Pope (10 Pope) Loomis married Maybelle Wheeler on June 12, 1899. From this marriage there was one child. 1.) Arthur Pope (11 Pope) Loomis born September 18,1919 Second Marriage: Arthur Pope (10 Pope) Loomis married Agnes Klatte (bornSeptember 12, 1884) on July 19, 1935 After moving to Iroquois, South Dakotawith his parents. He attended elementary there and then continued his education at the Agricultural College at Brooking, South Dakota. Arthur, started in the railroad service and made it his lifes work. He is still holding (June1938) the best run on the "Soo Line" having charge of the Winnipeg Flyer. Hewanted to retire but the company would not accept his resignation.
