John HARDY
[Hardy.FTW] Original member of the Bradford Church as recorded in 1682. After1695, he was know as John Sr.
[Hardy.FTW] Referred to as the Cooper, indicating his occupation. He owned the oldest hous e that is now standing in Groveland, Mass. on King st. It was built in 1676. He was received by the Bradford Church on April 24, 1720. He was also one of t he 101 first members of the new church organized at Groveland, Mass on June 7, 1727. He died very suddenly being abroad the greater part of the day. He was c alled Joseph Jr. until the death of his father and then called Joseph sr. He w as a soldier in 1710-11.
[Hardy.FTW] Received in the Bradford Church from the Haverhill Church on July28, 1723. He was one of the 101 first members of the new Congregational Church organized at Groveland, Mass 06-07-1727. He married his cousin, who wasthe daughter of Wil liam.
[Hardy.FTW] Died before 1715, since she is not named in her father's will.

[Hardy.FTW] Was still living in 1727. Was known as John, Jr until the death of his father and then as John, Sr. Moved to Westborough, Massachusetts soon after marriage He settled in Grafton, originally part of Westborough, Massachusetts
[Hardy.FTW] She was received into the Bradford church on 08-28-1721. She probably died pri or to 1751, since she is not mentioned in her husband's will.
[Hardy.FTW] He died of consumption. He was a pioneer immigrant to Tewksbury,Mass. The ho me in which he lived is still standing on Rogers street, Tewksbury Centre. It was the first house built in North Tewksbury erected in 1763. It is in excelle nt condition today. He made a will March 4, 1763.
[Hardy.FTW] Until 1716 he was known as Thomas, Jr. to distinguish him from uncle Thomas. A fter that he was Thomas, sr. Admitted to the Bradford church 07-28, 1723. One of the 101 members of the new Congregational Church organized at Groveland, Mas s 06-07-1727.
He married Mary Jackman 2 Apr 1667 at Rowley, Massachusetts . Mary Jackman was born at Newbury, Massachusetts 16 Jan 1647/48 daughter of James Jackman and Joanna James .
