DIED - Saturday, March 19, 1887, Hannah EWER, aged 86 years. The deceased
was the mother of T. G. EWER, of Mud Lake, who is the last survivor of
the family.
Aunt Hannah, as she wasgenerally known, was one of the earliest settlers
of this county having settled here fifty years ago. She was the last
member of a family of six, two brothers and three sisters having preceded
her to the Spirit land. The youngest member of her family died at the age
of sixty-six, which shows that they werea long-lived race of people. She
is dead but yet she speaketh, saying to us,prepare for death. After a
long, weary life she is at rest. Sleep on, sweetsaint until God shall
awake your sleeping dust, and crown it with immortality at his right hand.
Shall we meet her there?

is a native of Fulton County, this State, and was born March 17, 1843.He
was the second son born to James and Hannah (Holcome) Ewer, natives of
New York and Virginia respectively. Thomas grew up to manhood in his
native county, working upon a farm. At the age of twenty-three he began
farming for himself upon the home place. In March, 1869, he located where
he now resides,in Allen township, but in the following November he had
the misfortune to lose his house by fire. He then returned to the old
homestead in Fulton County. In April, 1871, he located upon a farm in
that county, owned by William Hatchbut in the following fall he returned
again to his farm in Allen Township, having in the meantime erected
another house. March 6, 1869, he was married toMary E. Burket, a native

Chicago - Allen Township
The following is a list of members taken from the old church records
priorto 1900: EWER Hannah, Thomas G., Elizebeth, Nancy, Smith B.,
Catherine, Mary, T.J. (Tot), Leuella, Madison (Matt)
Thomas G. Ewer was born on a farm two miles west of Macy in 1844. This
verifies that the Ewer family was early settlers of the Macy area. His
baptism, which is recorded in the church record wasin 1859 at age 15.
This would lead one to believe that the Mud Creek Churchwas meeting at
that time.
