Alice (8) Pope was the first child a daughter of Pline Platt (7) Pope and
Salina Bond Pope.
Like many of her predecessors she schooled in Lind, Wisconsin and
qualified to teach.
Alice (8) Pope married Rush Murray Loomis (bornDecember 22, 1847 in
Northeast, Pennsylvania) on June 22, 1867 in Weyauwega,Wisconsin. From
this marriage there were three children.
1.) Arthur (9 Pope) Loomis born November 24, 1867
2.) Wilson Murray (9 Pope) Loomis born November 14, 1869, died August 18,
1872
3.) Frances Belle (9 Pope) Loomis born March 2, 1872, died August 13, 1876
After marrying Rush Murray Loomis they resided on the old Pope homestead.
There she gave birth of Arthur Pope Loomis giving him the distinction of
being born in the log cabin on the Chapman corner. Rush and Alice
continued to live on the farm even after the older Pope's wentto live
with their son Nathaniel (6) .
From 1880 and 1881 the lived one milesouth of Post Corners school in
Dayton (Waupaca County), Wisconsin and thensold the farm to a cousin
rush Loomis Pope and Claribel Nordeen Pope.
For atime Rush and Alice lived on the N. L. White farm (what was the
Lind post office).
Alice taught school at Lind Center and her son Arthur was one of her
students.
In later years the family moved to Iroquois, South Dakota
