Beatrice Pope (9) is the second child a daughter of Rush Loomis Pope (8) and Claribel Charlotte Nordeen Pope. During childhood Beatrice attended the District School at Line, Waupaca public Schools, graduating in 1909 from high school at age 15 with honors in athletics. Continuing her education at Oberlin College, majoring in Sociology and Physical Training receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1915, with a post graduate study in business Administration andHistory. After graduation became Y. W. C. A. Director at Dayton, Ohio; whe re she had charge of Physical Training and girls' camps, also supervising r ecreation for girls in industry. 1917 spend the summer as Director of Recrea tion at the Industrial Girls' Conference, Oxford College, Ohio. Beatrice (9) P ope married Clifford Arleigh Parmenter (born February 24, 1895 in Neenah, Wis consin the son of Chester Parmenter and Nancy Annetter Parmenter) on November 14, 1917 in Waupaca, Wisconsin. From this marriage there was one child. 1. )Patricia Claire (10 Pope) Parmenter born November 04, 1920 in New York, N ewYork Shortly after marriage her husband Clifford was called to active du ty in France for World War I. Beatrice started working with W. R. R. C. work at New London, Connecticut, where she was Director of Community Recreation f rom September 1918 to March 1919, having supervised forty girls' clubs in New London, Hartford, and Norwich, also the Fort H. G. Wright Hostess House and Canteen. March 1919 she transferred to Mineola, Long Island, where she super vised the Health and Recreation work in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Early J anuary,1920 Beatrice's war work was discontinued and she became organizer i the Manhattan district for the World Inter-Church Movement, at the same time her husband Clifford was employed a the Alexander Hamilton Institute in New Y ork City.Later, she was connected with the Social Survey Department and fro m September 1921 to December 1923, she was with the Mother's Club of Bayside, Long Island, where she directed Americanization work; organized and supervis ed Mothers' and Girls' Clubs, and did home visiting and case work. February 1924 she and her family moved to Rochester, New York where Clifford was emplo yed as in the sales department of the Hudson Motor Company and she became dir ector of Downton Community Service for the Rochester Baptist Temple. Later B eatrice became director of New Era Adult Education which was sponsored by the Rochester Board of Education, and her husband was business manager of Centra l City Business Institute, Syracuse, New York. In 1937 July, he and his fami ly moved LosAngles, California, residing at 5675 W. Washington Blvd.
