Then they came to Indiana in the year of 1818, and settled in Martin County, near Mount Pleasant (one mile South of Loogootee, Indiana). His cousins, Clement, Joseph, and Robert also came"."Jeremiah Raney was a Revolutionary Soldier serving in the New York line, 5th Regiment, commanded by Col Lewis Dubois, 1st Company of General Rosecran's Army. He was not a pensioner, but was probably given land instead".

Event: Military Service Revolutionary War Sergeant in 5th New York Regiment Note: Held rank of sergeant. Taken prisoner by British on Oct. 6, 1777
