Lucien and Leda went to the mills in Fall River Massachusetts. Manywent
there to work in the mills. Lucien and Leda went back to Leda's hometown to
be married but returned to work in Fall River, Massachusetts. Theyhad Alice
and Alma in Fall River and then went back to Saint Pascal, Canada,where they
had Stella. They heard that Grand Falls was a good place and wentthere by
train. Lucien arrived with a wife, 3 children & 1 child on the waywith 10
cents in his pocket. He knew a man there who gave them dinner and letthem
stay overnight.
He bought a small house and started a blacksmith business.
Lucien was born and brought up in Saint Alexandre, Quebec, Canada. Hewent by
the initials J.L. to most who knew him. At the age of 14, he went toGreen
Island (L'Isle Verte), which is located South of Riviere du Loup.There, he
began his apprenticeship as a blacksmith at the salary of five centsper day.
He met his future wife, Leda Gagnon, while working at L'Isle Verte.When
Lucien was 18 years of age, he and Leda were married.
There is a possibility that Lucien's birth year is 1868.
Lucien died of cancer at age 70 yrs, 6 months.
Leda and Lucien had 12 children, 7 daughters, 5 sons. They celebratedtheir
50th wedding anniversary on 26 OCT 1937 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick,Canada
They met and courted in Fall River, Massachusetts, while working atthe mills
there.

Estelle had the devil in her, like her brothers. The Pirie's livednext
door and they were thought to be the RICH people of Grand Falls.Mrs. Pirie
would sit on her balcony and rock while yelling at the kids going by.Well,
Mrs. Pirie wore a lot of makeup and powdered her face.
One day, Estelle (or Stella as she was always called) walked by andgot Mrs.
Pirie to yell at her. She then picked up her dress and showed her barebehind
(mooned her) which she had already painted with make-up and powder sothat it
looked like Mrs. Pirie's face. The Pirie's house was a reproductionof the
house (Tara) in Gone with the Wind.

Dollard and Alphena had a child (Robert) that died in a house fire.Dollard's
brother Gerald always said Dollard was probably his closest friend.From
personal knowledge, his brother George was certainly a close second.Dollard
and his brothers were always up to something and it usually let themget into
trouble for it.
The neighbors (Pirie's) were renovating the house, one time, andDollard
talked the brothers into tieing up a goat in the tent where thefurniture was
stored. This was after they fed the goat cabbage and castor oil. Theresult
was messy and unuseable furniture. The Pirie house was a reproductionof
TARA, the house in Gone with the Wind.
Dollard died at the age of 70 of a heart attack.

When Gerald died, he was at work in his shop in Caribou, Maine. Atage 66 he
was still working with his sons at Belanger's Auto Electric and thereis where
he died of a heart attack.
Joseph Louis Gerald Belanger was baptized on 30 JAN 1910 by FatherHenry
Jayner, in Grand Falls. Godparents were Mr & Mrs Louis Beaulieu (AuntAlma).
Gerald was confirmed on 20 JUN 1920 by Bishop O'Leary in Grand FallsNew
Brunswick.
Gerald is buried in a plot next to the road in the cemetery just Eastof Holy
Rosary Church in Caribou (next to the bypass highway), Maine. Thiswas always
a beautiful spot until they put the highway in next to the cemetery.
At his Naturalization as a US Citizen in Caribou, Maine on 05 FEB1941, Gerald
signed the paper as Gerald Louis Belanger but they typed in GeraldLewis
Belanger. He was 31 and they noted, on the document, his nationalityas
British.
Gerald and Irene were married by Reverend J J Fournier, SM, in thepresence of
Lucien Belanger and Louis Philippe Michaud as witnesses. Gerald'smother had
been against his marrying all along and was conveniently ill on theday of the
wedding and could not attend.
