Notes:
Philip was the Van Buren Town Treasurer from 1931 to 1937. He drove ameat cart from Van Buren to Keagan for a Mr. Cyr who owned a store. He also delivered groceries until the Cyr's sons took over the store andPhilip was out of work. He then went to Lewiston for a year or so and rented hishouse. He came back to Van Buren and drove a taxi for a while until he got ajob managing the State Liquor Store (he changed his political party toRepublican to get the job). Some sources give 17 Dec and others give 18 Dec for Louis Philippe'sbirth date. Louis Philippe died at the age of 60 years, 5 months, 4 days from acerebral hemmorhage. He got up one morning and said he didn't feel good. While dressing he just collapsed. He managed the State Liquor Store in VanBuren, Maine. Louis Philippe's gravestone was located in Van Buren, Maine (SaintBruno's Cemetery) on 27 Oct 1995 and the dates written on it verified vital information. Laura Cormier died when Irene was 4 and Cecile was 1. Her two sons(Harvey and Lawrence) went to Saint Agatha Boarding School in Saint Agatha.Maine. Irene and Cecile stayed with Joe Michaud (Louis' Brother) and Angele(Laura's sister) until Irene turned 5 when she also went to Saint Agatha. Philip (Louis) then remarried to Alma Lapointe and when he wanted togather his family together again, Angele would not give up Cecile. If youhad no children, at that time, you could be drafted into Military Serviceand Joe did not want that. Joe and Angele were thinking of taking in a little boy to raise (fromsome poor relative with a large family) when Laura died and Cecile camealong. Now they would be susceptible to the draft if they let her go -anyway, after a year they must have been attached to her. They kept Cecile and brought her up as their own. Irene and Cecilereally thought they were cousins for a long time. Cecile was the cousin thathad everything and Irene was the poor one.

It was not until Cecile and Irene were in High School that they foundout they were sisters. Irene said she always knew there was a specialattraction between my cousin and I, that was more than being cousins. The two had been best friends before and were much closer afterwardsand forever. When Irene was 16, she graduated from Van Buren High Schooland was offered a position teaching English in Canada by the Nuns. They werehoping she would join the order She decided to stay in Van Buren to work at the bank, where she hadbeen offered a job. She had some experience from school where she acted asbank representative since the school held accounts for the children. Thishad to be around 1926 or so, during the depression. A job was a job and thisone paid something like $6.00 a week.
