Married at Brunswick Presbyterian Church according to Mc Chesney, page293. Pittstown given as location in 1940 Eddy Book. Historical display at First Congregational Church gives pew # 46 $18for J.C.Eddy. His pew in church in Brunswick given in Barney's letter of06 AUG 1946. Edie's letter of June 1979 says JC was 33 when they came to Simsburywhich would put it in 1886 rather than 1884 the year calculated by Barney8-6-1946. By that reckoning Sherman would have been 9 years old. 1886 is theyear of migration also according to a magazine article in the August 1923National Grange Monthly which see. The family bible (see refin notes for Sherman Eddy) gives Memorandaas follows: Moved to Simsbury 01 APR 1886. Moved to Riverside for thewinter NOV 1899. Left the farm fall 1904. Sold the farm 1906. This also agrees with Prindle's Mc Chesney genealogy.

Charles was a surveyor and involved in many water supply projects.They had no children.
1900 census give birthdate as Sept 1877. The 1876 birthdate wouldonly have about 10 months after Charles birthdate. Another source has Sherman's death 17 AUG 1951. (what source?)Barney''s letter of 06 AUG 1946, has 1877 as birth year. Gravestone in Simsbury Center Cemetery, has Sherman born 03 SEP 1876,died 19 AUG 1952. Family Bible now (1993) reported to be in hands of JamesMaxon Desmond of Granby, Connecticut, says that Sherman Eddy's birthdate was03 SEP 1877. Also that the family moved to Simsbury from Brunswick New Yorkon 01 APR 1886.
Check out death date 31 MAR 1939. Gravestone in Simsbury says born1879, died in 1939.
Retired as Colonel in U.S. Army graduated in 1905 from U.S. MilitaryAcademy West Point New York. Attended The Coast Artillery School at Fort Monroe, Virginia as 1stLt, graduating in the Class of 1911 and as Major R. C. Eddy in the Classof 1922 - Advanced Course. His quarters were: 1st Lt Sept 1907-Sept 08 15B 34 Ruckman 1st Lt Aug 1910-Aug '11 144B 41CIngalls Maj. Sept 1921-June '22 123B 2 Ruckman (The above from Fort Monroe archives - obtained by MacDesmond(nephew) during visit there October 1993). Retired in 1931 after having served onDefense staff ofthe Panama Canal and then a teaching post at MIT.

Aunt Sylvia was a missionary nurse in Turkey and was awarded theCroix de Guerre by the French government for her work in the Crimean war(1919) From Eddy Family in America (1940) page 577. (check this out verbatim) Theclinic was in Talas, Turkey. 1980 Supplement: She was a registered nurse. She trained atChildren's Hospital, Philadelphia and Manhattan Maternity Hospital N.Y. City. During World War I, she served as a nurse in W. Va., and later abroadwith the Near East Relief. She was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French Government for bravery. From 1924 to 1946 she served as medicalmissionary in Turkey having received her career appointment from the American Boardfor Foreign Missions of the Congregational Church in 1929. She was spokenof as The Angel of Talas. On her retirement and return to the U.S., shebecame a supervisor at the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital in Columbia,Missouri.
