In the LDS Ancestral File, his death date is recorded as the same ashis marriage date. Pretty unlikely but possible. Especially as he wouldhave been aged 78 years at the time of the marriage. Probably also unlikely(JFN,1997). The founding father of John Hopkins University, an institution ofhigher learning, in Baltimore, Maryland, founded in 1876. Funds for theestablishment of the university were provided in a bequest of $3,500,000 by theAmerican financier Johns Hopkins (1795 - 1873). He left an equal amount to found the Johns Hopkins Hospital, opened in1893, which trains students of the university medical school. In addition tothe medical school, considered one of the best in the world, the principal divisions of the university include the arts and sci ences,engineering, hygiene and public health, nursing, advanced international studies,continuing studies, and a conservatory of music. The degree of bachelor is conferred in the liberal arts and sciences, business, engineering sciences, international studies, mathematicalsciences, music, and nursing; in addition to these fields, the degree of masteris granted in business education and public health and hygiene. Thedoctoral degree is conferred in arts and sciences, education, engineeringsciences, international studies, medicine, music, and public heath and hygiene.
