He planted a vineyard and soon branched out into other agricultural products. He was the largest residential developer in Shafter, developing 80 acres known as the Mannel Tract. Adolf was on the Richland School District board for several years. In 1946 he was elected to the Shafter City Council and became Mayor of Shafter in 1952, where he served for six years.
