VERNAL--Luther Swett, 60, a resident of Ashley Valley for 42 years and actively
identified with the agricultural interests of Unitah Basin, died of sinus
trouble in a Salt Lake hospital Saturday.
Mr. Swett, a sone of Lyman Johnson and Elizabeth Ellen Langston Swett, was
born in Payson, June 19, 1880. After attending the schools in Payson, he came to
Vernal when 18 and had resided here since.
Mr. Swett was a member of the LDS church. He was a director of the Rock Point
Canal company and also a breeder of Hereford cattle.
On July 13, 1917, he married Alene Ellsworth of Leota. Besides his widow, he
is survived by six sons and daughters. Fancis L., George, Elva, Mae, Wayne E.,
and Edna Marie Swett, all of Vernal and the following brothers and sisters,
Oscar and Lyman Swett of Greendale, Elmer Swett of Vernal, and Mrs. Edna
Williams of Hawthorne, Cal.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday in the Ashley LDS Chapel by Bishop
Alma Preece.
Burial will be in Rock Point cemetery conducted by the Swain funeral home.

hospital after a long illness. Born Dec. 19, 1895, Franklin, Idaho to William
Thilo and Matilda Goasna Ellsworth. Married to Luther J. Swett July 13, 1917, in
Vernal. He died Feb. 17, 1940. Active member Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Survivors: sons, daughters, George, Wayne, Mrs. Rulon Elva
Deans, Mrs. Edna Walker, all Vernal; Francis, Bremerton, Wash.; 17
grandchildren; brothers, sisters. Funeral Wednesday, 11 a.m. Ashley LDS Ward
Chapel. Friends call Vernal Mortuary Tuesday, 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday prior to
service. Burial Rockpoint Cemetery.
