HE WAS CHOSEN ENSIGN AT NEW FAIRFIELD, NORTH PARISH, 13 MAY 1745. ELECTED LT. 1750. IN THE 9TH CO., 4TH REGIMENT ARMY AUG 1755; 1ST LT. 7TH CO., 3RD REGIMENT MAR 1756; LT. 23 MAY 1760 WAS AMONG A GROUP OF MENT FROM DUTCHESS CO, NY TO FORM AN ASSOC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF 23,000 ACRES OF LAND FOR A FEW CENTS AN ACRE, IN THE VICINITY OF LAKE GEORGE, NY. (THEN ALBANY, NOW WARREN AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES) ON 31 MAR 1762. THEY THEN RETAILED THIS LAND TO SETTLERS AT REEPORTEDLY, $1.25 AN ACRE. SOME OF THOSE WHO JOINED FROM NEW FAIRFIELD WERE THOMAS AND SAMUEL HUNGERFORD AND BENJAMIN AND JOHN SEELYE. EBENEZER SEELYE MUST HAVE OWNED SOME, AS HE SOLD HIS 1000TH PART ALTHOUGH HIS NAME IS NOT AMONG THE ORIGINAL SIGNERS. BENJAMIN DIED INTESTATE 4 NOV 1777, HIS SONS ABEL AND BRADLEY WERE APPOINTED ADMINISTRATORS OF HIS ESTATE. INVENTORY WAS TAKEN 28 NOV 1777. HIS HEIRS MADE AN ARRANGEMENT AMONG THEMSELVES ON THE DIVISION OF THE ESTATE. ON 7 APR 1778 THE COURT APPROVED THE INVENTORY OF REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY OF BENJAMIN SEELYE. NEHEMIAH, ABEL SEELYE AND PAUL AND DEBORAH YATES MENTIONED AS HEIRS. INVENTORY AND PROBATE OF THE ESTATE RECORDED IN DANBURY,CT
