Thomas MILDMAY

                   Note:
Walter Mildmay erected the Mansion House at Danbury Palace - the eventual seat of the Bishop of Rochester. He also founded Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
The Visitation of Essex, 1634 , tells us that Sir Walter Mildmay of Apthorpe, Co. Northampton, was Chancellor of the Exchequer and one of the Privy Seal to Henry 8th.

Licence to marry, May 26, 1546, Walter Mildmay, of London and Mary Walsingham, of Westminster. Died at Hackney, May 31, 1589. Buried in St Bartholomew-the-Great, London. M.I. Note:
Sir Walter Mildmay (1523-1589). The son of a wealthy merchant, Sir Walter Mildmay married Sir Francis Walsingham's sister, Mary, in 1546. Elizabeth appointed him to her Privy Council and in 1566, made him Chancellor of the Exchequer. Like Knollys, he had strong puritan sympathies. In 1584, he founded Emmanuel College, Cambridge with the specific aim of training learned, godly ministers.
