William Warren DEPEW
The Mormons that colonized, if I can use that word, Raymond Alberta, was not for polygamy rea sons. They left Payson, Utah, to settle in Raymond and cultivate the land for sugar beets fo r the sugar beet factory starting up. My grand father was William Warren Depew and he was th e foreman to Raymond Knight who headed up the group from payson. Grandpa plowed the first fur row in Raymond and had a farm south of the town. The factory was in business until the 1950's , but is not anymore. The sugar beets now go to Taber Alberta. (quote: GW.Fisher)
Ray passed away at his home in his easy chair watching his favorite sport, Raymond Rodeo. Evidently he had an heart attack and passed away in front of the TV Set.
