   11/04/90, Descendants of Joseph Loomis in America. p. 191. He was at the
evacuation of Boston. He hired a substitute, paid him in Continental money,
returned home, took his 2 yoke oxen, induced his neighbors to take theirs, and
moved cannon to the Hudson River. In after years his grand-children played with
the Continental money which he received for these services.
