Notes:
                   Alias: Leon Arthur /Tripp/
Daughters say that Arthur Edward told story of being on the Titanic liner
that sank in 1912. According to the story
hewas in the water for a while before being rescued by a life boat. In
the book A Night to Remember, there is a passenger list for the Titanic's
last voyge. There is no Tripp on the list; my mother, Alfreda, thinks
grandfather madethe whole story up. Gracie Rhodes Whatley said that it
was the Lusitanis, not the Titanic, that Arthur owned theaters in England
and was visiting them. The latter is even more unlikely, since the
Lusitania was sunk in may of 1915, a few months after Aunt Gladys was
born. Mother said that Arthur Edwardsaid that he was not on the
passenger list of the Titanic--for some unknown reason. She also said
that he stood up and told the story in church.
Mothersaid that Arthur had one illigitmate daughter, Ethel, who was
discovered after she and her sisters were grown.
Arthur Edward Tripp was born Leon Arthur Tripp, but changed his name for
an unknown reason.

In the summer of 1949 my father, John Peter Rhodes, took mother, my
brother Harry, myself, and Arthur Edward Tripp to Bowsman River,
Manitoba, Canada. Wewent to see Arthur Edward's brother, Albert Tripp.
In the only new car my father ever owned, a 1948 Cheverlot, we drove and
drove. I was barely five and remember little about the trip, except for
a deer we saw along the way. Father said that the brothers had not seen
each other in, I believe, twenty years or so. Within a year, I believe,
both Arthur and Edward were dead.
