WAS OF NEW MILFORD, CT IN 1742, WAS IN WOODBURY, CT BY 1743 WHEN HIS 1ST CHILD WAS BORN, AND UNTIL SOMETIME IN THE 1750'S WHEN THEY REMOVED TO CRUM ELBOW PRECINCT, DUTCHESS CO. NY WHERE EPHRIAM APPEARS ON THE TAX LISTS FEB AND JUN 1759 AND JUN 1761. ON 4 JUL 1768 EPHRIAM WAS IN POWNAL VT WHEN HE SOLD 5 ACRES IN FAIRFIELD, CT TO EBENEZER SEELEY FOR 10 LB. HE WAS IN WALLINGFORD, VT IN 1770 AND BY 1773 WAS IN DANBY, VT. HE IS ALSO SAID TO HAVE BEEN OF WILLIAMSTOWN, MA AND IN 1773 THEN OF DANBY SOLD LAND IN WILLIAMSTOWN. WAS A SOLDIER IN THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR 1757. WAS A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE OF SAFETY 1777. SERVED IN THE RE. WAR FROM VT. AND WAS REFERRED TO AS COLONEL. ON 9 DEC 1778, REUBEN AND EPHRIAM SEELYE WERE APPOINTED TO ADMINISTER THE ESTATE OF EPHRIAM SEELYE, LATE OF DANBY, VT. DISTRIBUTION 25 AUG 1781 WAS SIGNED BY SARAH KETCHUM, WILLIAM AND HANNAH FOSTER, RICHARD AND KEZIAH LATTIN, MOSES AND LUCE VAIL, ISREAL, JOHN, EPHRIAM, JONATHAN AND REUBEN SEELYE. ONE REFERENCE SAYS THAT THE WIDOW KEZIAH AND ALL THE CHILDREN WERE NAMED IN THE DISTRIBUTION; HOWEVER, AFTER STUDY OF THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT, ANOTHER RESEARCHER COULD FIND NO MENTION OF THE WIDOW KEZIAH.

CAME TO DANBY, VT FROM RHODE ISLAND IN 1780, A WEALTHY LANDOWNER IN THAT TOWN CONSTABLE IN 1784, SELECTMAN, MANY YEARS IN TOWN OFFICIAL POSITIONS MOVED TO ST. LAWRENCE CO. NY AND THEN TO OHIO MARRIED 3 TIMES, NO CHILDREN BY SECOND MARRIAGE, THIRD WAS IN OLD AGE. THE AMERICAN SEELEY'S DESCENDED FROM 2 BROTHERS, JOHN AND DANIEL, TRADESMEN FROM WALES ( FUR HAT MANUFACTURERS) BOTH FIRST SETTLED IN CONNECTICUT WHERE JOHN REMAINED TAKING UP HIS TRADE AS FUR-HATTER WHILE DANIEL, HAVING RECIEVED A LAND GRANT UNDER THE KING OF ENGLAND FOR A TRACT OF LAND IN NEW JERSEY, SETTLED THERE. SEELEYS IN NEW JERSEY, PENN, AND S. NY STATE TRACE THEIR ANCESTRY BACK TO DANIELO. THE DATE OF THE COMING OF THESE BROTHERS I DO NOT HAVE ATH THIS TIME (JULY 1993) I CAN ONLY GO BACK AS FAR AS EPHRIAM SEELEY WHO WAS BORN IN 1717 AND DIED IN 1777. JONATHAN WAS A VOLUNTEER TO PLATTSBURG IN THE WAR OF 1812 FOR WHICH HE RECIEVED A LAND TRACT. DATES TAKEN FROM THE MT. IDA CEMETERY, PAWLING AVE.
