Burke says he married 11 May 1625 or 1 May. The Complete Peerage v.XIIpII.914
He believed that God had made him a King, so he did not need to consult his
subjects. He managed to rule without a Parliament until 1640, and tried to
force his Scottish subjects to accept English Church services. When this led
to a war he could not afford, he promised to share some of his power with
Parliament. People no longer trusted him and England slid into Civil War.
The Province of Maryland was named in Her Majesty's honor. Also, died31 AUG
1669.

of the Faith. He was in exile until the Restoration, being proclaimedKing in
Westminster Hall on 08 MAY 1660. He returned to London, 29 MAY 1660and was
crowned 23 APR 1661. Reportedly had fifteen children by fivemistresses. From
him descend (in the male line) the present (1996) Dukes of Buccleuchand
Queensberry, Grafton, Saint Albans, Richmond and Lennox. Reigned1660-1685. He
is the Great-great-great-great-grandfather of George Washington ParkeCustis.

from 1685 to 1688, whereupon he was diposed by the Whig Rebellion, hedid not
