Uncle Fred to me was actually my great-uncle. I'm sad that I neverfigured that out when I was young. He knew my grandfather quite well of coursethough Grandfather died when my father was yet a child. Grandmother livedmore years and made it long enough to meet my mother after her marriage to myfather. Uncle Fred was a very special, very kind and generous man. He wasalways the gentleman and held the post of patriarch of the entire community formany years. He was, afterall, the President of the Sandy Spring FirstNational Bank and the Savings Institution as well.
