She was noted as a Minister for the Monacacy Meeting (Maryland),American Society of Friends. Mary is shown in a personal note file of the late Martha CraryNesbitt, as being ALSO the daughter of a George MATTHEWS and anElizabeth WRIGHT. This George MATTHEWS is purported to be the son ofOliver MATTHEWS. Elizabeth, the daughter of a James WRIGHT (no otherdata). The descendency shown is of the collateral of an Owen ClaireKARDATZKE, which ends on about a parallel with James Fash and SusannahMarie NESBITT, the children of George Floyd and Martha Vincent CraryNESBITT, Jr. This flies in the face of the descendency earlier recorded fromresearch, of Mary MATTHEWS from WIlliam MATTHEWS I (as shown). They settled at The Retreat, a six room log house on the farm laterknown as Longwood. Mary received a portion of her father's estate bypartition agreement, a 380 acre parcel. It includes all that part of Addition toBrooke Grove adjoining Charles and Benjamin Tanterra which is Longwood. Herportion adjoined that of her sister Deborah, wife of Richard Thomas whose land included the site of Brookeville. Mary's portion included the presentwest end of the town of Brookeville. Circa 1817, the Longwood house (stillcalled The Retreat) was built for Thomas MOORE by his nephew ThomasMcCORMICK.
