On 16 APR 1635, he took passage on the ship James at Southampton forNew England. He arrived in Boston with his family on 03 JUN 1635. Theyproceded to Rhode Island and resided at Providence until 1643 when he removed tohis estate at Warwick, Rhode Island. He went to England in 1644, butreturned to Warwick, Rhode Island soon after. His second wife was Alice Daniels. His third wife wasPhilippa................ ..who survived him and died in 1687, aged 87. Dr. Greene filled theoffices of Magistrate and Clerk of Court. He died in 1659 and was buried bythe side of his first wife at Conanicut in Warwick, Rhode Island. Also ofSailsbury, Chirurgeon, England. Had a brother Richard who gave him half of hisLatin books in his Will. Dr. Greene was described as a surgeon. A Descendent of the Greenes of Greene's Norton, County Northampton,Jon Greene came over from Salisbury, County Wiltshire, to Boston in 1635. His ancestry is traced back to Robert Greene of Gillingham (1545). Sir Bernard Burke states that this Dr. Greene was a surgeon. Describedas a companion of Roger Williams and a party to the Providence Purchase(Rhode Island) from the Indians. A family tombstone in the King's ChapelBurial Ground, Boston, shows the same devices; as does also the book-plate of Gardiner Greene (born 1753) who married a sister of Lord Lyndhurst.
