Source includes, but is not limited to: Ancestral File and the IGI, International Genealogical Index, both resource systems developed and solely owned by The Church of JesusChrist of Latter Day Saints.(JFN) From TAG:123. The Countess Lucy, She was certainly niece of Robert Malet of Eye, and the presumption is that her mother was a daughter of the first William Malet. Thorold, Sheriff of Lincoln, was her kinsman; she may have been his niece. She was heiress of the manor of Spalding, Lincolnshire, which was held by Aelfgar, (Saxon Earl of Mercia), before the conquest; and by Lucy at Domesday; it appears to have passed from Aelfgar to Thorold, and from Thorold to Lucy. If she was related in any way to Aelfgar, there is no evidence to show how. Aelfgar's heirs presumably lost their holdings as a result of the conquest. The article quoted is not attributed to an author, but is presumably the work of Donald Lines Jacobus, who was the editor of TAG at that time.
