Hazel Applegate Keene, 68, Sparta, died Friday, February 28, 1997, in her home.
She was born July 30, 1928, in Bruner and was the daughter of Charley and Lenora (Cowan) Goin. She was a homemaker and worked in the medical field prior to retirement. Hazel was an active member of the Eagles Lodge in Springfield. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband, Burl Applegate; two sons, Roy and Robert (Bob) Applegate; and a daughter, Dorothy McGinnis. Survivors include: her husband, Floyd Keene; seven children, Burl Applegate, Jr., Don Applegate and David Applegate all of Moab, Utah, Gary Applegate, Sparta, Brenda Elliott, Reeds Spring, Renda Hill, Moberly, and Lenda Shepard, Marionville; two stepchildren, Randy Keene and Beverly Hiland, both of Springfield; a sister, Alice Bridges, a brother, Floyd Goin; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday, March 3, 1997, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. James "Hobo" Applegate officiating. Burial was in Sparta Cemetery.	1  _TITLE OBIT
