HE WAS OF NEW MILFORD, CT WHERE HIS WIFE WAS ADMITTED TO THE CHURCH. IN APR 1752 HE PURCHASED LAND IN LITCHFIELD, CT. IN 1754, HE RECIEVED LAND FROM THE ESTATE OF BENJAMIN BISSELL OF LITCHFIELD. 19 JUN 1754 SOLD TO BROTHER DAVID SEELYE OF NEW FAIRFIELD,CT 18 ACRES. 27 MAR 1789, DEEDED 3 ACRES IN LITCHFIELD TO HIS SON JUSTUS SEELYE, JR. JUSTUS WAS TOO OLD FOR ARMY SERVICE IN FIGHTING DURING THE REVOLUTION, HOWEVER HE ASSISTED IN FOREWARDING THE ARMY AND MILITIA OF CT. IN THEIR MARCHES AS FAR AS ALBANY AND OTHER PLACES MANY TIMES FOR WHICH HE NEVER CARRIED ANY ACCOUNT OR EXPECTED ANY OTHER REWARD THAN THE SATISFACTION OF SERVING HIS COUNTRY. WILL WAS DATED 25 OCT 1795; INVENTORY TAKEN 12 DEC 1795; PROVED 14 DEC 1795. STATES THAT AS THE ESTATE IS SMALL AND WILL REPRESENT LITTLE TO HIS INDIVIDUAL CHILDREN, HE IS LEAVING ALL TO HIS WIFE PHEBE. ESTATE WAS INSOLVENT.
