Samuel and Mary Brown, set up housekeeping in the old black-smithhouse, which
stood on the north-east corner of the old Eleven O'clock Road, and theLower
Weston Road, which comes down into the north western corner ofFairfield.
This road came down to, and crossed the Easton-Westport Turnpike.
This house, originally an old black-smith shop, owned by Mary'sgrandfather
Jabez Thorp, and stood on the opposite north-west corner.
On 03 APR 1848, Samuel Brown, purchased the Abigail Jennings homesteadand
farm on the Hoyden's Hill, where he moved soon after. (see FairfieldTown
record; Book #48, page 183)
Samuel Brown bought 23 acres of land and old homestead on Wilson'sHighway
(now Hoyden's Hill) from Stephen Silliman. 03 APR 1848, being thehomestead
of Abigail Jennings. He later built a new house, where he died 04 JAN1889.
Died of old age at 77 years. 10 mos.
