enlisted from Gilmanton, New Hampshire on 16 AUG 1862 in Company B,12th. New
Hampshire Volunteer Infantry and was mustered in, 20 AUG as a Private.He was
appointed Corporal, 27 MAR 1864 and was wounded at Cold Harbor,Virginia, 03
JUN 1864. On 01 NOV 1864 he was appointed Sargeant and he mustered outon 21

Joseph, a Stone Cutter,lived in Concord, New Hampshire in 1874-1877(see
City Directories). About 1885, he and Emma moved to Canaan where hewas a
granite cutter in 1900 (see Census). Joseph was buried in the WellsCemetery
in Canaan on 13 JAN 1915 and Emma was buried there on 24 SEP 1919.
