Source: Roster of the 12 NY Cavalry, Co. A & F. James Carvey Jr of Fulton,New York enlisted as a private 14 Aug 1862, at the age of 36. He was promoted to Corporal 14 Nov 1863. He was captured 20 April 1864 at Plymouth, NorthCarolina, he was held captive at Andersonville, GA & Florence South Carolina. He died 19 Oct 1864 at Florence, South Carolina. Burial AS an unknown in the Florence National Cemetary. At the time of his death he was a Corporal inCompany A. 1860 Census shows that all of James' children were born in New York
