capacity of Patriot & Major of Militia" were;
1. Richard Bailey, Sr. was the fifth signer of the Rhode Island
Declaration of Independence 4 May 1776
2. He served as a deputy of the town of Richmondin the Rhode Island
General Assembly May 1776 and
again May 177
3. He procured blankets and received flints for the revolutionary
forces-1777, "Bartlett, Colonial Records of Rhode Island, Vol. VII, p.
5111 and Vol. VIII. pp219,254, 279"

I have copies of his and his son Richard Jr, Rev. War records.
I have copies of where Richard Sr. was on the assembly of RI.
He was the 5th signer ofRI Declaration of Independence signed 2 months
before the Declaration of Independence was signed.
Richard Sr. was one of the first to take census.
Marriage Certificate reads:
Richard Bailey & Abigail Woodmansee. Both of the Town ofWesterly in the
Colony of Rhode Island appeared in           -Westerly this25th day of
April: 1729 & were Lawfully Joyned to gether in ye Honor'able State
Mattarmoney by me "George Babcock: Jestice  -Richmond, March ye 8th AD
1765
