Olivia Pioneer Lady Passed Away Sunday
Mrs. William Warner, sixty years a resident of Olivia,passed away
Sunday, May 25th, after an illness of three years duration. She suffered
a stroke a week before her death.
Funeral services were held from the home at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon with Rev. G. A. Morrison, pastor ofthe Methodist church,
officiating. Acting as pallbearers were four grandsons,Dean of Redwood
Falls, Jack and George Warner and John Mehlhouse of Olivia,and two
nephews, Wayne and Claude Ewer of Bird Island. The interment was in the
Olivia cemetery.
Mrs. Wm. Warner, nee Jennie M. Ewer, was born at Owatonna, Jan. 18, 1866,
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ewer. At an early ageshe came with
her parents to Bird Island, and on Jan. 18, 1887, she was united in
marraige to William Warner, since which date her home had been in Olivia.
On January 18, 1937, the couple observed their Golden wedding
anniversary,and on last January 18, their 60th wedding anniversary, a
family reunion washeld in observance of the occasion.
The death of Mrs. Warner removes from Olivia one of its oldest citizens,
in point of continuous residence. She, and her husband, who survives her,
and who is 90 years of age, took an active partof the up-building of the
Olivia community, commencing that work sixty yearsago.
Other survivors of the family are Mrs. Irene Peterson, Robbinsdale,
Merrill Warner, Redwood Falls; Mrs. Mike Leininger, Royal, Donald and
Lloyd Warner, all of Olivia. She also leaves 16 grandchildren, 11 great
grandchildren;one brother, George Ewer of Bird Island, and one sister,
Mrs. George Warner of King City, Calif. A son, Harlan, passed away in
1913.
