Albert Lorenzo MONTGOMERY
Albert Lorenzo Montgomery was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, October 2, 1870.He came to the United States in June of 1890. Family records reveal that hefirst came to Spokane Falls, Now Spokane, Washington. He filed a Declaration of Intention to become a citizen of the United States. On June 6, 1899, hereceived his certificate of citizenship at Wadena, Minnesota. It is believed that he had three brothers, Charlie, Bill, and Ted. He also had two sisters, whose names are unknown. The family, except Albert remained in Canada. He married Mathilda Marie Horning at Ryder, North Dakota (then Dakota Territory) in 1901. They lived in the Ryder area until they moved to Remer, Minnesota where they farmed. Albert also worked in the logging industry. Mathilda Marie Horning was born in the Dakota Territory near what is now Wall, South Dakota, on September 7, 1882. Her father was Carl Horning, her mother's name is unknown. It is known that the mother died when Mathilda was veryyoung. When Mathilda was a young woman, she worked as domestic help on various farms in the area. She met her future husband while they were both employed in farm work.
Cause of Death:Heart Attack Joseph Montgomery was born on January 7, 1903. He never married. When he was a young man, he moved to the Harvard, Illinois area where he worked for many years on a dairy farm. Joe visited his mother and family several times in Montana. He spent his last years near Granton, Wisconsin. Joe lived near Granton with his brother Carl and Carl's wife, Betty. Carl had been seriously injured in an automobile accident and was confined to a wheelchair. Joe took care of Carl while Betty worked away from home. Joe died of a heart attack in 1975 or 1976. Joe is buried at Granton, Wisconsin.
Cause of Death:Emphysema Albert H Montgomery Jr. was born April 10, 1903 and died on or about October 10, 1969 at Grand Forks, North Dakota. Albertspent most of his lifetime in North Dakota. He married Anna Helen Straka in1937 or 1938, exact date unknown. They had one daughter, Ramona who was born on January 19, 1939. Ramona married Gordon Minner on February 4, 1961. Gordon died May 13, 1991. They had one son, Gordon Minner Jr., born on July2, 1977. Albert (Bert) and Anna lived at Grand Forks, North Dakota where Bert was employed as a mechanic in the Ford Garage. Bert, his wife, and daughtervisited the family in Montana only twice; they felt closed in by the mountains because they were used to the Flat North Dakota country. Bert died of Emphysema. Anna died December 25, 1976.
Cause of Death:Cerebral hemorrhage Ann (Anne) Elizabeth Montgomery wasborn March 17, 1906. Information on the funeral card indicates Ann was bornin North Dakota. When Ann graduated from High School she went to Minneapolis, Minnesota, there she studied to be a nurse. Ann was employed in hospitalsaround Minneapolis until the beginning of World War II. Anne then moved to California with three other girls to work in the Defense Industry. Ann workedat Lockheed for many years. She had bought a home in Reseda, California. She lived there until her death from a massive cerebral hemorrhage on January 27, 1960. Ann never married, but had visited her brothers and sister several times. During the war, Ann provided a welcome haven for her brothers, John, Frank, and Ted, all of whom spent some time in California during their military training. Anne is buried at Valhalla Memorial Park, Los Angeles County, California
