                   History by Cassandra Lucille Weeks:
The dynamite just sat there upon the floor, waiting to be picked up. He gently threw it into a hot, black stove. BANG The stove, his hand and his honor flew out the window.
Luckily, they were able to piece together most of his hand. Fixing the stove was impossible so they gave up. But this two-year-old, for the rest of his life, made sure that he had honor and was honorable.
Maybe it was this incident that made my great granedpa, herbert Colborne Pric3e, be an honorable man. I doubt it. None the less, "Gramps" has proved himself, many times, to be a righteous individual.
Gramps was honored greatly for his dealings with the San Juan Islands. In short, he was a "Port Controller." He devised a port system for these little islands. Once he bought a one street city across from Friday Harbor. Since he had contributed so much to the city, the City Council made the street part of the real city limits. They said "he owned half of Friday Harbor." The comunity was so grateful to him, and his wife, Deanie. They wrote several newspaper articles in his honor. In my dealings with Gramps, I have had much joy. He has brought happiness to Texas, California and the San Juan Islands and wherever he has traveled. It is Gramps whose footsteps that I hope to follow some day.

Geraldine was born in Portland, Oregon, moving to Los Angeles whereshegraduated from John Marshall High School and met her future husband,LeoL. Weeks. They were married Feb 28, 1936 and lived in Los angelesuntilthe family moved to Friday Harbor, Washington in 1947. It was herethatshe began a correspondence with the Plumb family who were greatfriendsfrom Hollywood ward. Geri had her new baby Gregg correspond withLucillePlumb's new baby Sherry. She sent her a ring and note from Greggthatsaid "I thee woo." After two years, the family returned to LosAngelesand in 1953 located in Alhambra, California. Geri was active inchurchserving in many organizations. Leo was working for a Chevycardealership but put family first all his life. In 1963 her husbanddiedand "GG" as she is known, raised two teenage children who remained inherhome. One of these children was Gregg who continued to see Sherry Plumbatfamily weddings and activities. They dated several times but did notgetservious until Gregg returned from his mission to New EnglandStates. They were married much to the joy of both families on December 12,1969. While living in Los Angeles, Sister Weeks worked for Cal StateUniversityfor 18 years as a printer. She was known as a friend tochildren - herown and the children of friends and neighbors. She oftenwelcomedchildren into her home for sleep-overs and various activities. When shecelebrated her 80th birthday, over 100 of these children cametocongratulate her. GG moved to El Cajon in the late 80's to be near her son Gregg andhisfamily. Gregg was serving as Bishop of El Cajon 2nd ward at the timeandGG became the Ward Mother. She was on top of every family and whattheyneeded, birthdays, baptisms, etc. She passed out twizzlers tothechildren at church even on Fast Sunday. She served as ReliefSocietycompassionate service leader and stake Relief Society seniorluncheonchairperson for El Cajon and Santee Stakes. She also gaveservice at theFamily History Center one day aweek. When her son Gregg and his family decided to move to North County, theywanted to take GG with them. They could not find a suitable homesobegan building one to accommodate GG. GG had not been feeling wellandwas not doing well living in El Cajon alone so moved to the smallrentalhouse that the family was living in during the building process.Sheresided in the living room and was part of all that happened inthefamily. She had much input on the design, colors and location of"herroom" in the new house and loved going to the job to see theprogress. Her health became very poor, however, with muscle weakness, incontinenceand lack of energy. Many doctors later, she was put ondialysisbecause of kidney disfunction. Sherry took her to dialysis 3times aweek but her health never improved. She was uncomfortable withbackaches and pretty much bedridden but never complained. She was arealtrooper until she died August 30, 1998 in the rental home. Allherchildren and grandchildren surrounded her and her beloved Leo came together. It was a blessing to know GG. She was a great corresponder andwroteseveral notes everyday to brighten lives, and keep in touch withfamilyand friends. She found the good in people and was compassionate tothecore. She wanted to hel[ everyone and could always figure out a waytodo so. She left a mark on all who knewher. GG died with problems relating to Kidney failure. Funeral serviceswereheld September 5 at the El Cajon chapel on Granite Hills Drive.
