I do have good information on Solomon and some on his father William, but I am trying to trace William and Anna back. Below is the information I have on Solomon, it comes from three sources; Pomfret Vermont vital records found in a book edited by Henry Vail, and the Corbin Manuscript; birth and death certificates; and vital records from Dedham. I will also send you the information I have on William and Anna. He would remain in Pomfret for the rest of his life and is buried in the cemetery north of town. Pomfret was the home of the King family for nearly the next hundred years. Kings can be found in Pomfret in every census until the 1900 census when the last remnants of the King family are gone from Pomfret. Windsor, a county in the S. E. central part of Vermont, has an area of about 1040 square miles. It is bounded on the E. by the Connecticut, and is traversed by the White river and other smaller streams, which furnish abundant waterpower. The surface is generally uneven, and in the W. part mountainous. Pomfret was chartered by Governor Benning Wentworth on July 8, 1761, to Isaac Dana and his associates, of whom there were sixty-seven. The first proprietors£ meeting was held in Pomfret, Connecticut (this town being named after the one in Connecticut) on September 7, 1761. The first town meeting held in Pomfret, Vermont was in March of 1773. John Winchester Dana was chosen clerk and moderator and supervisor. At one time Pomfret was a bustling community with hundreds of residents; today there are only three buildings that make up the town, the Library and the Town Clerk£s office being the most prominent.
