Autobiography of Howes Crowell Wallace, p.80 "October 8 I received a letter from Mrs. Ovilla Liston Empey, St. George, diving date of my sister Melissa's marriage to Brother Liston as December, 1878. Brother Liston died about one month later, January 26, 1879, at Woodruff, Arizona, of blood poison. He had been called to help colonize that part of Arizona by Brigham Young, and considered it a duty to obey the call. His wife and family were living in St. George but she felt it too much of a hardship to leave her comfortable home and start out again to pioneer a new country. After Brother Liston's death his new wife was left stranded in a strange desert country. Pologomy marriage..... Evidently according to Earl Wallace, Melissa went with Brother Liston to Arizona and after he died, she came back to Salt Lake to live with her son. They lived with Melissa and Howes...... Brigham Young put it into George B. Wallaces head that Melissa should marry Mr. Liston. Melissa had been married previously and had been divorces. I think Melissa and other sister married Perkins brothers.. Comadore Liston......Earl said....5-30-01
