Research by Eleanor Law Johnson, 530 S. 4th Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101 Date: Mon, 09 Jun 2003 23:09:29 -0400 From: "Defiance Public Library Ohioana"| This is spam | Add to Address Book To: elliejohn@yahoo.com Subject: Re: Obituary Dear Eleanor, Thank you for your inquiry. According to our Cemetery Inscription books, there are seven Farnsworths listed in Defiance County, all at the Old Forest Home Cemetery in Hicksville, Ohio (Defiance County), located off of State Route 18. Edna D. Aug. 14, 1888: aged 78 yr. 4 mo., 3 da. Oliver D. Dec. 24, 1882: aged 86 yr. 6 mos. 6 da. Additionally, we have listed: Francis O. 1832-1920 - Came to Defiance 1840. Margaret M. 1840-1912 All of the above are in Row 6: section 3. Also, we have Albert 1830-1918 Eliza A. 1834-1894 - Wife Newell A. 1855-1933 All of the above are in Row 1: section 5. I checked for obituaries in the County Express, the Democrat and the Crescent (where available) and found nothing for either Edna or Oliver. I also checked the Catholic Diocese records for the Catholic church in Hicksville - no Farnsworths listed. For a list of the churches in Defiance County, the Defiance County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society has a list at their website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohdcgs/churchesdefco.html We can only provide 20 minutes of research time, and we do not research for a fee. We can put you in touch with a paid researcher if you would like. I would recommend checking out the Defiance County Chapter's website for any help, too - they keep a list of queries and can put you in touch with others researching your surname. Please let us know is we can assist you further. Sincerley, Defiance Public Library Ohioana Room ohioandp@oplin.lib.oh.us ////////////////////// Picture of Oliver Farnsworth on disk....... They lived there for three years. Then they moved to Stark County, Ohio. Here he worked at his trade of carpenter and joiner for four years. In the fall of 1840, he brought the family to Definace County, Ohio, and located in Milford Township. He lived on what is not known as the Adam Rhiele farm, where he started to clear land and make a home for his family. He continued to live here until he was called to his final rest on December 24, 1882, at the age of eight-six years and six months. His wife survived him about six years. She died August 14, 1888, at the age of seventy-eight years. Thus passed away two of Defiance County's honored pioneers and highly respected citizens. They are buried in Forest Home Cemetery at Hicksville, Ohio. They were the parents of eleven children, two of whom died in infancy. Nine children reached adulthood: Jane A., wife of Royal L. Taylor; Albert; Frank; Ellen, wife of Clement Hulbert; Eliza, wife of Jason B. Martin; Mary, wife of Sumner Johnson; Nathan E.; Lucy, wife of William Jackson; and Edna, wife of Sam Myheoffer."
