A.G. Hoovler was educated in the common shcool, and was married May 13, 1862, to Mary U. Law, born May 3, 1841, in Sandy Lake Township, daughter of William E. and Julia A. (McClain) Law, natives of Ohio and Cool Spring Twp. respectively, and the parents of ten children: Ephraim, married Sarah E. Denwoody Thomas M., married Elizabeth Grove; Mary U. (see above...md. Hoovler);  Eveline, married Solomon Zedaker
Minnie J., married David B. Wilhelm; Caroline, died small; Amelia  and Amanda (twins), the former lives with her mother and the latter is dead.
Julia A. married James H. Gilliland 
And an infant...deceased. 
William Law owned 200 acres of good land at his death February 29, 1876.  He was a Presbyterian, to which organization his widow is attached.  Our subject settled at marriage on his farm in Sandy Lake Twp., composed now of 130 ares.  He is also the owner of two houses and three lots the brick block partially occupied by Scott's hardward store, all in Sandy Lake Borough, and a house the value of a colt, the gift of his father.  He is a member of the I.O.O.F., A.O.U.W., K.& L of H; is a stockholder of the Stoneboro Fair and a director of the Mercer County Livestock Association.  He is a Republican and he and wife belong to the Presbyterian Church, of which he is a deacon.   His brother Jacob M., died, leaving two children;  Blanch and Catharine, of whom our subject is guardian, and they with their mother reside on his farm in Sandy Lake Township.

This will hopefully give you more than you had.  These histories of counties are good but not proof and can contain errors.  So, you'll need to back it up with other sources when you can.

It seems they are saying that William E. Law originated in OHIO???? But, that doesn't coincide with the information in letter from Albert O. Law.  I think it would be an excellent idea to find them in the 1850, 1860 census and see where he says he was born.
I do have a source on Ephraim M. Law and Sarah E. Dewoody. Venango County, Penn  VHC  P500 ci  from Family History Library, Salt Lake City, UT Marriage:  1861 Her parents: William and Mary Foster Dewoody (Denwoody in Mercer Co.History).
If you go after the census records please send me copies....Hope all of this has "made your day."  Will keep digging....this so intriques me that there may be a connection somewhere.

PS I have a note that I couldn't locate them on the census records...Perhaps they were missed or I was asleep at the wheel. ha  Or maybe they were in Venango Co.....but I'd try again anyway and see if it was just missed.  They have to be there somewhere unless the census taker missed them completely.  If not in one census perhaps in another...worth a try.  Some county historical societies have even published books on the census....so that would really help too.

     Yes, I guess I was confused, but, this is amazing---the letter below is from my husband's grandfather and we would have been the ones who received the letter and gave it to him  Talk about weird, here we are again.  There were 3 Albert's---Albert O, Albert L, and Albert W. We had 3 boys and I said that is enough Albert's.  My husband has always been know as Skip, I wonder why?  Grandpa was a dear old fella.  I will print this out and let my father in law read it. We shall keep in touch and see if there is indeed a connection.

       Your letter was received by my grandson at Claks Mills, Pa and as he did not have any records of our Law family he gave me your letter to answer.      I do not know whether I can give you the information you ask for

Our Law family originated in New York state and my grandfather and a brother went to Center County, Pennsylvania....came west to Mercer County for awhile.  Then my grandfather came to Venango ounty and bought a farm near Franklin.  His name was William Elliott Law but I never could learn the name of his brother who went to some where near Pittsburgh, Pa and he might have gone later to Ohio.  My grandfather was born in New York state in 1815 and my father was
born in 1839.  My grandmothers name was Julia Ann McClain of near  Fredonia, Pa.  My fathers name was Thomas McClain Law and he died in 1921.

I would be most happy to hear if this letter was from your father in law. I truly appreciated his kindness in answering me so long ago. I wrote it while we lived in Salt Lake and then we went to Washington DC to law school. Ended up in Las Vegas and have had 9 children so we've been busy through the years.

Hi,
       I noticed your posting on USGENWEB for Mercer Co.,Penn.  I also have posted there under Law name.
I've always wondered if there might be a tie-in with my Law family from the William Elliott Law and Julia Ann McClain.  Would really appreciate knowing where William was born and if in  Ireland, which county they were from.     My Richard Andrew Law (g.grandfather) was born in Mercer  Co.,Penn 2 April 1832.  His father (believe it is Richard) either died, disappeared, etc. as Elizabeth remarries about 1835 to Richard Clarkson and they move to Logan County, Ohio. 
          Do you know of any Law Bible records that might have some information.  It's a long shot but I've been at this for so long.  Oh how I'd love to get the line futher back.  I believe Richard Law's (the one that died and his wife remarried) parents were Richard  Law and Ann Hunter.  They immigrated from County Tyrone, Ireland about
1819.
