This is objective....to get a death record for Martha Ball Russ......
Filled out death record request 5 Oct 2002....Jean to send for it....as it needs to be obtained by someone that is related to her so Cray would need to request it..

Information given to me from Clarks said it was Forneg, Texas.....There is no Forneg on my atlas, so it may be Forney (near Dallas).?????????

Check 1880 Census Kaufman County, Texas ...she would be 3 yrs old in a Ball family...probably.

      You are a whiz kid...good job.
      I want you to hold off until I can get a death record on her as that may give us more clues about her father...if we are lucky.  I know she died in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 7 March 1956 and I want to get an obituary if I can.
      What's your charge so far (hourly rate, etc.)....and I'll get that to you pronto.
      This will be so great working with you.

          There were several Martha E.'s/Mattie E.'s in the National  Index  between 1872 - 1880, but not living in Texas. 
   So....have started working my way through the 1880 Texas Soundex.   Interestingly, the code for Ball also includes Bell, Beal, Buell, etc. If  there is a chance the name was any of the alternatives, that expands the  possibilities to a large degree as Bells are quite numerous. Have found  several Martha/Mattie BELLS of the correct age in the 1880 Index.  I am  taking pictures of any soundex cards that have a Martha/Mattie/Ellen that  look to have close to the 1877 birth date.  But it would help if I had any  other information on Martha.  Do we KNOW that she was born in
   Texas?  Do we  KNOW that she was in Texas for that 1880 census? Do we have any other  siblings names?  Is there a chance that the name could be any of the others  in the soundex?
   
   I only got through the D's in the Soundex on Saturday.  Have appointments  most of day today, so probably won't get to Library until tomorrow.  If you  have any more clues on Martha, let me know.
