Dear Ellie,
Americus is not a female, I am sure you have witnessed this type of census error before.  He was my grandfather (b: 12/26/1879) and fathered 11 children. His wife was Imo Adna Johnston (b: 5/3/1881) also of Van  Wert,
Ohio.  There is an on going debate regarding the spelling of  Grandmothers last name. Civil War Records indicate My great-grandfather's name was  James Riley Johnson, Some of his dependants used the Johnston spelling and 
some used Johnson. Johnston is the name on the tombstone located in Van Wert, Ohio.  I have a photograph of the tombstone. US census records also use the Johnson spelling.

I am happy to hear from you.  My husband and I are planning a short trip to Las Vegas to visit his sister sometime next month. I was hoping we would be able to get together for breakfast or lunch. I will bring along copies of my
branch of the Holden Family.

Hi Elaine,
      I'd love to meet you.  Let me know when you'll be in town and we'll exchange phone numbers so we can reach one another.  I do have a tight schedule as we are serving for 3 years in the Las Vegas Temple.  So, we'll just need to coordinate our plans....One week we are working 5AM to 2PM  and another week it's 2PM to closing....so it will depend on the week. And we do have a few days where we don't go in.  Hope it works out.  It will....we'll make it work
       I checked on our relationship and we are 4th cousins, common ancestors being Benjamin Holden and Anna Lambert.  You and Jane have that same relationship.....Isn't it wonderful to find cousins....we have so much to share.

	Let me introduce myself, I am Elaine L Holden Deeley the great granddaughter of Franklin C Holden b: 29 April 1845, Champaign County, Ohio and the granddaughter of Americus Rice Holden b: 26 Dec 1879, Van Wert County, Van Wert, Ohio. Daughter of Harry Franklin Holden b: 3 Oct 1904, Van Wert County, Van Wert, Ohio. I have been working on the Holden/Deeley genealogy since 1993 when we purchased our first computer. I had boxes of family papers, including birth announcements, high school graduations, Wedding announcements, and death announcements. My mother Marguerite Brothers Holden b: 19 July 1905, Allen County, Lima, Ohio. saved all of these pieces of family history in a big suite box stored under her bed. Lucky for me I happened to be present when my sister was trying to decide what to do with this box of memories. I said I would take the box back to Georgia with me.  The rest is now history.

	In September after a trip to the Family History Center in Salt Lake  City I decided to join several of the on-line genealogy sites. Since I have a copy of the Beery Family history by Werner which contained my father's name and date of birth, I began my on-line search. Much to my surprise I  discovered Scott Kendall, related thru Thomas W Holden a brother of Franklin C  Holden. A few weeks later I discovered Jane Hunter Hodgson's wonderful site. Jane was kind enough to give me your name and e-mail address. She said you  lived in Las Vegas, my husband has a sister who lives in Las Vegas. We visit her several times a year. What a small world

My husband and I are going to visit Jane and Dan next month. Fred and Dan will play golf while Jane tries to teach me a few tricks on the computer. We just had a quick one day visit in Palm Desert, CA this week. Just a beautiful drive thru the desert and mountains from San Diego County, Ramona, CA our present home. I still can't believe I have run across so many relatives in such a short time.
