Ginger Eib information:
1st to come to America but didn't stay.....
Probably bought some land and then returned to Germany. He told them how much he liked it ....he got sick and died in Germany.. The wife and two sons came on to America.....Johan Peter and Matthias with mother Anna Marie Gumper....

Matthias' son, Peter, married Barbara Heistand.....(There is a question on this according to Ginger 12/27/03).
Much information on the Internet is incorrect regarding this....

Annotation: An index by Marvin V. Koger, Index to the Names of 30,000 Immigrants...Supplementing the Rupp, Ship Load Volume, 1935, 232p. is inferior to Wecken's index in the third edition (above). Page 449 contains "Names of the First Palatines in North Carolina, as Early as 1709 and 1710"; and pages 449-451 contain "Names of Males, Salzburgers, Settled in Georgia, 1734-1741." Contrary to some opinions, this work by Rupp does not duplicate nos. 9041-9042 by Strassburger, although there are thousands of names which are duplicates. Strassburger's work, however, is more accurate and more reliable than Rupp's. See also no. 9330, Urlsperger. The Salzburgers mentioned above were immigrants from Salzburg, Austria.

Hi Ellie, even if I was a mistake, lol, it was still good to hear from you. I've been meaning to write to you anyway. Remember in the family tree that Gerald Birum said, Barbara was the wife of Peter Eib the son of Matthas, who was brother to Johann Peter Eib, well I've done a lot more searching and Gerald "IS" wronge. Barbara would be old enough to be his mother for one thing. And numerous other things. So if you still have it the 1st way I told you Please change it. I read the other email you sent. Your right it is an eye opener. Take care and have nice new year. Ginger Eib

Ok history lesson, Eyb is how is was spelled in Germany. It wasn't until they came to America that the name was changed to Eib. Eyb is the name of a tree that grew there. Very hard wood. These people made wooden
utinsel from this wood, and thus got their name. Yes there is a desendant. Fredrick Eyb who lives in France. He wrote every Eib he could find for the tree he was working on. I wrote to him and recieved his tree. He invited all
Eibs from America to come for a reunion. 2 did go. It made the paper there and a picture. I have Family Tree Maker. Will try again soon to up load. Everything I have is pretty much documented. Please tell me how your
part of the tree goes.

Hi Ellie,
Glad you found the email. Well, I have not gone that far yet to attach Maria Catherine to Nicholas. But I am strongly suspecting. I also found this Jacob Eibe who I have attached as grandfather of Jacob Eib:
   Jane

I still do not know who is Jacob's father, but I believe that his grandfather could very well be this Jacob.

Name: Jacob Eibe
Year: 1733
Age: 34
Place: Philadelphia
Source Publication Code: 9041
Primary Immigrant: Eibe, Jacob
Annotation: Contains 29,800 names, with annotations written by Krebs (see no. 4203). Various references to the names in Strassburger will be found in other listings, mostly where authors have attempted to line up their information with that in Strassburger. This work (often referred to as Strassburger and Hinke) is much superior to no. 7820, Rupp, and no. 1804, Egle. It forms a revision with additions to Rupp and Egle, and was prepared and edited with great accuracy. Vol. 1 contains captains' lists, 1727-1775; vol. 2 has facsimiles of all signatures of signers of oaths of allegiance and oaths of abjuration, and was not included in the G.P.C. reprint; vol. 3 has captains' lists from 1785-1808, and indexes to captains, ships, ports of departure, and surnames in all volumes. The set was originally vols. 42-44 of the Pennsylvania German Society Proceedings.

Name: Jacob Ebi
Year: 1744
Place: Philadelphia
Source Publication Code: 7820
Primary Immigrant: Ebi, Jacob
