AFN: CFSO-99 BIRTH: 1910 Census Tennessee...Listed with her son, James. Check on 1850,1960 census....she should be listed with family. ///////////// DEATH: I suppose this census was the Dekalb or Putnam County, Tenn Census as that is the place of her death. Burial: Allison Cemetery, near Cookville, Tenn....Collected information 19 Feb 1984...in person "4 June 1830, 15 May 1910...Wife of William Herbert Allison and Taylor Butler." In letter from Dean Sliger, P.O. Box 20263, Ferndale, Michigan 48220-0263 to Sandy Garrison Thibault 21 Dec 1986..(filed under Allison/Dean Sliger). "Elizabeth Peggy Clark Allison Butler, died May 15, 1910. She was counted in the 1910 Census with her son, James. The census that year was taken in early May, and she died a few days later. According to Aunt Bertha....she lost her mind in the remaining years. She says, 'Mother would take us over to visit her, because we loved her, of course, but she wouldn't let us get near her, because she was afraid she might hurt one of us. She was still a strong woman, but she had no mind. She would sit and rub her thigh until she brised herself. Aunt Bertha also verifies your information that the Garrison children (Andrew Jackson Garrison and Glatha Jane Allison's children) were not treated well. It still suprises me, to some degree, since grandmother Allison was not a poor woman (maybe in heart, though). No ones yet to figure out exactly who her "P. Taylor Butler" was. Notes by Eleanor Law Johnson..... note: Grandpa Robert Mansfield Garrison used to talk about a Grandma Butler that took care of him after his father and mother died.. I suppose it was very difficult for her to have six children thrust into her life when she was older..She was about 56 years old when her widowed daughter, Glatha Jane Allison Garrison, died and left all her children. My grandfather, Robert Mansfield Garrison would have been about 6-7 years old when he went to live with his grandmother. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// For help, call 1-800-346-6044 (U.S. and Canada) or send us an e-mail. LETTERS: In letters written by Glatha Jane Allison, wife of Andrew Jackson Garrison, she talks of the children going to their fathers grave and crying for him. I believe he was buried near their home in Wesley, Madison County, Arkansas. DEATH: However, a relative also said that they were buried in Little Rock, Arkansas and that there were no grave stones to mark the grave. It is possible that their bodies were moved to Little Rock but unlikely. I do not know why that would have occured unless it was because he served in the Civil War. "Aunt Bertha (Lollar--- Rin 708) speaking "My mother (Mary Matilda Garrison) said that on the day her mother died a dove flew in through the window and pearched on the fireplace mantle. There it made the loudest noise, and everyone knew that she (Glatha Jane Allison Garrison) was going to die that day." PENSION: Pension Application from Civil War, etc. (In my files) There are about 200 pages of Civil War records in the National Archives, in Washington D.C. regarding Andrew Jackson Garrison/Glatha Jane. I have many records relating to these records. Widow's Pension Application...husband in Civil War with Union Army.
