James William HOLIDAY
Some census records list Mary Jane as being born in Utah and some list California as birth place. If the story of her father being gored by an oxen in Utah Territory when they were on their way to California is correct then it is possible that she was born in Utah Territory. Because the story says they stayed in the Utah Territory so that he could recuperate from his injuries and if her mother was already expecting her she could have been born before they got to California. Utah was recognized as a Territory in September 1850 and she was born in October 1850.
Dora Rose Scott is listed as widowed on the 1910 census, no children are listed. I don't know if she remarried later. She is listed as Dora Scott, widowed in 1930 census.
