John's will of 1822 lists his son John and five children of his son Richard who had died in 1805.

RESEARCH NOTE:
From Macomber Genealogy - John Macomber (Philip 4 , John 3 , William 2 , William 1 ), born in Dartmouth, Mass., 5 May 1735, had recorded, 2 April 1757, inten- tions of marriage with Hannah Hart. She was dau. of Capt. Richard and Mary (Taber) Hart, born 5 Dec. 1730 in Little Compton, R. I. He does not appear in the land records, nor in the census of 1790, nor in the direct tax of 1798, but he is named in the will of his father, 17 Feb. 1798. "John Macomber of Dartmouth died on board the schooner Rainbow, Joseph Howland master, 14 Sept. 1796." Town Records of New Bedford. Perhaps this was son of the above. Elisha Macomber, son of John and Mary, was born in Dart- mouth abt. 1775. He m. at Plymouth, Mass., 2 Aug. 1802, "Mary Gullifer," both of Plymouth. She d. in New Bedford, 7 Sept, 1857, aged 73, dau. of Charles and Margaret "Galiver," born in Philadelphia. Elisha Macomber d. in New Bedford, 5 January 1855, aged 80. Elisha, son of Elisha and Mary Macomber, d. in New Ber- ford, 14 Oct. 1873, aged 51, born in Dartmouth, mariner and cooper. He m. Margaret J. New, who d. in New Bedford, 21 Nov. 189 1, aged 81-5-6. They had a son. Thomas S. Macomber b. in New Bedford, 29 Jan. 1850, m. 26 Aug. 1872, Annie F. DeWolf. He d. in New Bedford, 4 June 1888. A dau. Maud V. was born 13 May 1873. Another son of John Macomber may have been Anson Macom- ber of Dartmouth, who m. 20 Feb. 1783, Grace Brownell. Both signed a deed in 1820. He was a Revolutionary soldier. The census of 1790 shows probably four sons and a daughter. Chil- dren recorded in Dartmouth were Robert b. 1 Feb. 1784; Thomas b. 15 Aug. 1785; and Job b. 21 Jan. 1787. His dau. may have been Grace B., who m. 8 Nov. 1817, John B. Taber in New Bedford.

                   DEATH:
Death date of 1 Jul 1805 is the date of the will. His will is witnessed by Pardon Macomber, Garner Macomber, and Job Cuyler. Will Probated 19 Aug 1805. The will references his brother John Jr, which did not always infer that he was the son of a John, but may have been evidence that he was not the only John Macomber in the vicinity. A Macomber pedigree at http://home.comcast.net/~michael.mccumber/macomber/JohnDeTree.pdf lists this Richard as the son of Zebedee Macomber, with a brother John.
