Note: See notes under George B Hall, son of William M Hall to see how his trail lead to the below conclusions. Data leading to believe that Barnabas, George and William are sons of John and Elinor -1860 or Eleanor-1850 or Elenor-IGI. In the 1860 census George B (Sr) was living next to Barnabas. Decided they may be brothers. Listed on the 1870 census, William named four of his sons John A, Barnabas, George B and William. Barnabas named his sons John A and William M. In the 1880 census Barnabas, son of William, was living with Amanda and family and listed as a nephew - age 22. In the 1880 census George, son of William, was living with Dorcas and family and listed as a nephew - age 19. Also living there was a sister-in-law and mother-in-law both named Ann. [???Check to see where they fit?] John M had twins named Amanda and Dorcas listed on the 1850 and 1860 census. See the 1850 census. John M Hall had listed George as his son. Barnabas and William were married before 1850. These facts fit into place to make this a family. There is a problem. George B (Sr.) died and his brother, William married his widow. It is not known yet how many children she brought [if any] into the marriage with William. It is possible thatGeorge (Sr) may be the father of William, George B, and Judge. They have been listed under William at this time. Birth and marriage records need to be found and also death records of both wives. (by S. J. - 21 Jan 2007) 1850 Census, 15 Dec. 26th District, Cherokee Co., Alabama (Ancestry.com) John M Hall, 49, male, farmer, $1700, b Virginia. Eleanor, 48, female, b. NC. Mary A, 20, female, b. NC. Series M653, Roll 5, Page 5. John M Hall, age 59, [b abt 1801] male, farmer, real estate $3,500, pp $7650, born Virginia Elinor Hall [Eleanor or Elenor], age 58, [b abt 1802], female, b. NC Mary A, age 28 [b abt 1831], female, b NC [listed as 20 on 15 Dec 1850 census] James J Hall, age 22, [b 1838], male, occ. ?, b. Alabama [list as 13 on 1850 census] Amanda T Hall, age 17 [b 1841], female, b Ala. [twin listed as 9 on 1850 census] Dorcas N Hall, age 17 [b 1841], female, b Ala [twin] Note: John M Hall did not appear in the 1870 census, but there was an E Hall , female, living next to W M Hall. John must have died between 1860 and 1870 as did his son, George B. This may have been due to the Civil War. sj Note: Possible middle name is Mason. John Mason Hall born 16 Nov 1802, Of,, Franklin, Virgnia, to Randolph Hall and Sally Houston or Husted. This date was found on the IGI Family Ordinance Record. Another entry was found spelling the mother's name as Sarah J Woodson. There is no proof that this is the correct John. At this time it is being used as a clue only. sj A request to verify marriage was sent 31 Mar 2007 to: Jeane Hicks - volunteer lookup. A reply was received, but she found no listing.
