Historical information included in notes. Mary was born in England, 1797. At age twenty-two, she married Daniel Peacock. They made their home in Lashingham, Yorkshire,England, where the first of their eight children were born.Around 1830, they emigrated to Canada. They settled in Marcum Village, Ontario, where their last child was born in the same month that Daniel passed away. He is buried in Canada.Mary soon remarried to John Clark, in the Spring of 1832. They were living in Quebec, Canada, when they heard the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and emigrated to the United States to be with the Saints.By the time their last child was born in 1842, they had fled to Iowa after losing two large farms in Missouri to the anti-Mormon Persecutions.In 1846, the Clark family fled to Council Bluffs and then to Winter Quarters where they were assigned to the camp of Bishop George Miller.Bishop Miller was a very determined man that his camp would reach the Utah Valley ahead of the main camp and he consequently took his camp without the permission of the Church, to Nebraska, then to an Indian camp headed by Chief White Eagle on the Loop Fork of the Platte River.The Clark family took with them, six yoke of oxen, some cows, a span of horses, two wagons, one leaded with provisions. When they returned to Winter Quarters in March, 1847, they had one wagon, one ox, one cow.In the spring of 1850, the Clark family traveled to Utah, arriving there September, 1850. They settled in Salt Lake City and Mary strugled to care for herself , two sons and two daughters. Her son Thomas was killed by Indians, October 1, 1853, on a trip from Salt Lake to Manti to bring back grain for his family.Mary, worn out from all she had been trhough, passed away August 7, 1858 in Salt Lake at age sixty-one.One son from her first marriage joined the Church and came to Utah, settling in Manti. It was to this family that her youngest son went after her death.
He married Jane Sonley . Jane Sonley was christened at Kirkby, Moorside, Yorkshire, England 12 May 1764 daughter of Robert Sonley and Mary Waite .
