                   NOTE:
    The names of John Archerd's parents come from family tradition.  The gravestone for John says he was born in "Summerset, England," though researchers have not been able to pin down his origins.  The tradition says that his father was Tom and his mother was Jane, and she was Russell before marriage.  It is also passed down that John came to the US on some sort of short visit, business or otherwise, and was delayed from returning several times, by which time he had established enough roots here that he decided to stay.
