The Thomason families had mixed loyalties for the North and South during the Civil War. Fathers, sons, and brothers joined opposite armies and fought against each other. This may be the reason Young Zemeriah Thomas changed the spelling of his last name to "Thomison," as it appears on his headstone.
He married Mary Polly Bassam 1868 at Taney, Missouri . Mary Polly Bassam was born at Hall, Georgia Abt 1840 .
