John Solomon COX

                   Most early Meetings in York County were convened  at home of John Cox Sr.in Huntington, subordinate to Sadsbury MM, Pennsylvania

Some genealogies show THIS John Cox as the one who married Hannah Jenkins..she was married to John Cox Jr. NOT John Solomon Cox, son of Williamand Naomi Cox Jr.

John Cox, married first ca. 1713 Mary, whose maiden name is thought to beGarretson--the sister of Casparus, Garret, and  Cornelius Garretson. Thiscouple had at least 11 children. Three of them married children ofWilliam & Gertrude (Siedman)  Wierman, two married children of Casparusand Ann (Cox)  Garretson, and one married a grandchild of the lattercouple.

There are also genealogies that show this John Solomon Cox is the son ofJohn Cox Sr. and Rachel Embree ...think that is John Jr. not John SolomonCox.  Anybody been able to clarify who John Solomon Cox that married MaryGarretson, Jane Phillips and Mary Harlan belongs to?

John Cox came to America with his parents in 1708. We do not know wherethey lived in England - probably from some Quaker community. John wasborn about 1685 which means he was about 22 on arrival. It is believedthe group landed at Newcastle, Delaware where they lived for a season.Later the family moved to Kennett, Chester County, Pennsylvanie, a QuakerCenter. This was their residence for about ten years. During that periodJohn Cox Senior died, 1711. We have no idea when his wife Rachel passedaway.

On Apr. 7, 1713 he purchased 200 acres in Kennett Twp from Nicholas Pyle.The Cox's were members of London Grove MM and they lived in Kennett Twp.,Chester Co., where John was appointed Constable in 1728
